cover for AC unit

We have a Jayco 23rb and I have a adco cover which I use to cover the trailer for winter. My question is should I tarp the AC unit on the roof prior to installing the complete cover?

It's not a necessity, but it sure wouldn't hurt, since you already have it. We put a full cover on, also, but don't have the separate A/C cover. A couple years ago a squirrel climbed up on the roof between the TT and cover, and chewed a hole in the A/C shroud. I was thinking if I had an A/C cover on also, maybe that wouldn't have happened. I may never know!
