Dead Radio

This is a relatively common thing I suppose, but my super cheap OEM Radio decided to not work when I tried to turn it on last trip. (irv brand if I recall correctly).

It would not turn on/power up at all. It was late in the trip and I did not do any PD before dropping it at storage. I won't be back to take a look until 2 weeks from now.

So, I will likely replace the whole junky thing, but figured I would take a look for anything obvious first. I doubt it is a fuse because everything else works and there are only like 5 fuses in this trailer. I will check it out but don't expect that is it.

What else should I be prepared to look at, and how hard is it to access? Is a total power failure common?

There’s usually a fuse on the radio itself. If it’s not on the back of the radio body, it’s on the power wire coming off the radio. You’ll probably have to remove the radio from the cabinet which is easily done by removing 4 mounting screws

That is likely the cause. My radio has an old fashioned glass fuse in a cheap inline holder in the wiring harness itself. After we are on the road, I often have to pull the radio and reconnect the fuse.

Thanks guys. That definitely sounds like it could be the issue.
