Decent Mattress???

So,

I own a 2016 Jay Flight SLX 287BHSW.
So far, we love this camper, EXCEPT, the mattress.
It is so uncomfortable!
I've tried putting foam toppers on it, but no luck.

I was simply going to purchase another mattress when I realized these mattresses are not normal length. They are shorter.

Any ideas or solutions??? At this point, money doesn't matter...I just want comfort!

Thanks in advance....

Mark

You can search on the internet or this site for 'RV Queen' or 'Short Queen'. There have been a few posts from JOF members that bought from specific vendors. Maybe one of them will respond before too long.

Measure all three dimensions of the one you have.

Most manufacturers will be able to provide one of the same size.

Check into Ikea mattresses. I know it sounds funny but have you tried to take and put in a new mattress in some of the layout's of new campers...Good luck, talk about frustrating. Ikea mattress come rolled up and wrapped. Basically place on bed, cut open and unfold, very comfy also

Surprisingly enough, Walmart carries that same kind of bed you are talking about. It's the best bed I've ever had in my life lol. I was VERY surprised. Both my parents and my wife and I bought one, my neighbor bought one a couple months ago. This isn't for the camper, it's in our house, king size etc.. anyway just to piggy back on your post, those 'shrink wrapped' beds that a few places now have can be surprisingly awesome.

Bought this one Short Queen (10 inch thick) back in July. BEST upgrade we've made.
VERY inexpensive but great night sleep. Quick ship from Amazon. Opened the box in the camper on the bed platform. It was ready to go in half an hour.

Good luck.

We replaced our original Denver with a Denver that was a top of the line. Not too expensive and we are very satisfied with the comfort. May get the same for our house.
Do a search on this forum for mattress and you will see a number of posts on the mattress issue

we were able to put a standard queen in our unit. The standard queen is around 4 inches longer then the RV queen. The are both 60 inches wide. The 4 inches helped us with a little more sleeping length and with the 10 inch foam it pretty much supported 2 inches that overlapped the foot. We also got the bed in a box inexpensive and sleeps great.

look at the support, or lack of it, underneath the mattress. I added a support wall under the bed (see pics in my profile), and it totally changed the mattress for us, we went from rolling into the center to be comfortable!

I guess different Jayco brands come with different size mattresses. Our White Hawk came with a full, 80" queen. We ordered a memory foam mattress from Amazon and have been happy with it. Perfect Cloud or something like that.

We bought a full length Queen foam mattress from Ikea and used it for a couple weekend trips but I got tired of squeezing past the end so I just cut off the extra 4 inches so it was the same length as the original mattress. So far so good.

Cheers
