Do dexter trailer brakes work in reverse just as well as rolling forward?

I have our 7500 lb 2020 Jayco 287BHS and will need to back it down (no turn around area) a fairly steep hill at our cottage to where I would LIKE to park it. Does anyone know if the Dexter trailer brakes work in reverse just as well as they do with forward motion? I don’t want to lose control of it backing down there We d the brakes don’t really work. Yes, pulling it out will be the next challenge. The 2005 Ford F-150 Super Crew weighs just a bit more than the trailer. Any advice or thoughts are appreciated!

Yes, your brakes will work in reverse also. You may have to contend with sliding on wet grass or loose gravel pulling you backwards down the hill. Be careful when you do.

Depending on how steep your driveway is and the traction level, your biggest challenge may be trying to keep the front wheels of your tow vehicle from sliding and losing steering control. Not meaning to scare you, but it isn't necessarily the easiest thing to do.

One other thought. Maybe have someone with a very large 4WD farm tractor hook on with the draw bar, and put it there for you?

I back up at home in 4 wheel low. With my current TV, I have good control, and does not bind up. Our old 87 suburban was horrible in 4 low. I have also used 4 low on grass and loose grave many times.
