Extend-A-Shower Install

We have a 2019 212QBW and would like to install an Extend-A-Shower Rod. One side will need to be attached to an outside wall, the other to an inside wall. Has anyone done this and what is the best way to attach? Thanks!

Yes, I did this last year and it's awesome.

I used an ultrasonic stud finder and the schematics I got for the trailer from Jayco to make sure I hit something solid.

Thank you for the excellent photos! What length screws did you use?

Hmm, that's a good question. I think I just used the screws that came with the shower, it's been a year, so I don't remember, sorry. The inside wall is quite thick, and I didn't have an issue on the outside wall (nothing is poking through ).

You are very welcome. If you haven't found it it, you should also check out Lucky Duck's mods for the 212. The one for the bed box is especially great!

How do they go from turned inside to outside for showering? Just wondered what the mechanism is and how it works.

It bends in 2 places along the rod and also both places where it mounts to the walls. Many different combinations of in/out are possible. I put one in my SILs KZ toyhauler. It really opened up his shower when you are in it. You can use it as a towel drying rack by pushing it to the inside. Jay

You move one side at a time. Push the right side in and then the left. Do the reverse to extend, right side out and then the left. Kind of like the hokey pokey... Put the right side in, put the right side out, put the left side in...

We put one in our prior motorhome - We loved it. Worth every penny if you have a 5' tub/shower.

As an added bonus - get the Shower curtain that has the expandable tab that allows you to pull out the rest of the curtain as far as the new shower curtain bar - together they give you a lot of room for us big guys.

We also had one in a previous trailer and it got the *S.W.M.B.O. seal of approval!

Loved how it makes a small area more usable!
