Hitch questions potpourri

To Grumpydad and Need a vacation:
My hitch is rated over 10K so I am under comfortably and I am well within the "yellow" weights.
The fa weight is a good question. I added the Cat App to my iPhone and will find a scale and brake down, weigh and re-load and again weigh. I may be over analyzing this, but I am an engineer.

Who worries about a couple of hundred pounds over? When I am on the road the rear axle is maybe 300 lbs. over. Nothing is engineered let say an axle of 3500 lbs. will break at 3500 lbs. The margin might be double or triple. But some are just paranoid going alone to the bathroom. Legal limitations is a total different perspective.
If the unit handles good for you that's all that count. It is your RV.

NH,

The “hitch rating” I am referring to is not the wdh, but the truck frame mounted receiver hitch. It will have both a max loaded trailer, AND a MAX TW rating. What are those ratings?

And what is your yellow sticker payload rating? The trucks rated payload includes the total weight of: all occupants, cargo in the truck cab and bed (bikes, coolers, firewood, etc), any accessories added to the truck (step bars, tonneau cover/ truck topper, etc), the wdh, AND the tt tw.

Glad you started your own thread. I'm am engineer too so I know about over analyzing. Check out the cat scale thread for detailed instructions on how to get the weights you need.

I think you need to tighten up you WDH bar to put take weight off you rear axle. On my hitch I adjusted the tilt angle and now I am bout 3400lbs front and 4000lbs rear
