Hot water heater 264BHW

Hi folks. Thanks in advance for this great thread board. Wonderful info. So I have a 264BHW and might be a silly question, I'm currently connected to city power and city water, my LP gas tanks are turned off. Do I need to switch the heater button to get hot water? I know I use when the gas is on. But I'm unsure to use? Appreciate any advice.

If it is a SLX model, you only have gas hot water. You will need to turn on the gas and flip the switch. May want to light the stove for about 30 seconds to get the lp flowing.

Hot water heater 264BHW SLX

Hi again. Hot water has been working beautifully. I'm just trying to understand the storage of the hot water. Is it only heating while the heater is on? Or just say I heat for 30 minutes. Then turn heater off. Then have a shower, but don't use all the hot water. Where does the unused hot water sit? I'm trying to imagine the system diagram in my head. I'm on city water. Not boon docking. Thank you in advance.

The hot water heater will "hold" some temperature for a while in its tank. Mine is 6 gallons but it will not remain hot for very long. Without the heater on if you draw hot water it will diminish pretty quickly.

Oh and so now I'm thinking about when boon docking. How does the water know to go via the water heater from the fresh water tank instead of the city water connection? Is there an automatic valve/switch over?
