did you trust that label or did you verify which side was line and which side load?

That label may have not be put on correctly.

Excellent Thread here

Excellent thread and advice on inverters here... IMO. I am currently experiencing the inverter GFCI protection breaker sporadic tripping and having trouble isolating why...as for two years we have had the same loads plugged into the outlets... mostly residential refrigerator, iPhone charges, small tv that came with RV.
Because of threads like this, I did not freak out as the info in this and the other threads on this forum helped me with troubleshooting/isolation as to what the initial problem could be as the fridge/TV, etc went out and no circuit breaker in the main panel or error code on the Xantrex remote panel was indicated. Immediately went out the the Xantrex man box and saw GFCI protection circuit breaker was out and reset that...works fine for hours, even days, then pops...
still trying to figure that one out...

If an inverter is wired correctly, you should never need to turn breakers on or off.
X2, it sounds like you have the inverter AC in and AC out connections reversed. would try to apply grid voltage to the wrong side when plugged into shore power.

I agree 100%, this is the only thing that makes any sense. The inverter prep label must be backwards.

I would verify this and make Jayco pay for the damaged inverter.

66lincoln, Have you tried installing another inverter yet? If not I wanted to ask a question. With the last install was the converter still connected in your power center? Not saying turned on or even with the breaker on but still wired/connected inside of power centers breaker bus bar?

I have been thinking about this situation as I am really close to doing my full install. I started asking questions on different solar forums. Everyone agrees that the converter if its still hooked up via the same power center that that 120v inverter side is connected to it would create a loop and thus always burn something up.

Anyway thought I would specifically ask how that was setup when this blew.

@Samion, did your new micro come with the inverter or did you install/have it installed after delivery? Assuming its also a progressive inverter?

I have been wondering what the new setup was and looks like, can you please post some pictures?

The comments earlier on this thread are for those who added an inverter after via the "pre wire for inverter" (which was a joke IMO). In those cases you would potentially need to cut off the converter as it might (again depending on how things were wired in) case a loop and fry the inverter.

Since yours came from the factory with this setup you should have been wired in correctly. Meaning you would not need to disable/turn off anything. You should only need to turn on and off the inverter and it should power specific sockets. Of course there might be something in the manual that says otherwise so you might need to go through those.

The other thing is to reach out to Jayco and ask, you can call or email them. They are pretty quick to respond.

When does it show this, did you have a generator hooked up at all or at a campground?

I found this:
https://answers.rvupgradestore.com/2...d%20Management.

You could also prob call progressive to see if there is any way to reset it etc.. there prob is.

Ok found the right manual: E-5 is
E-5 is displayed
During startup the inverter draws a small amount of current to charge the input capacitors. If that current exceeds a normal
range the inverter shuts down and reports an internal error. This is can be indicative of bad input wiring or an internal failure.
 Ensure all DC input connections are tightened
 Make sure DC input wire size and length comply with Figure 15

So double check your battery connections and honestly check the inverter connections as well (disconnect the battery and any other power coming in so nothing is damaged)

here is the quick reference manual link:

If nothing is loose call PD..

That is interesting, seems like it has a loop with they way they wired it in. I would call PD to see what they say about it. I wouldn't think you would need to turn those off, if they did it right.....

If you just turn off the converter it should work as well. The AC just is a safety thing as at 1800w that inverter is limited. When the inverter is being used/powered on does it power everything in the trailer? If so you could easily retro fit a larger inverter and power the AC as well.

That was meant for you to call them and ask as I don't have that setup at all and couldn't share with them answers to questions they might ask.
Here is their contact info: Office Hours, Monday-Friday 8:00 -4:00 PM EST Ph: (269) 781-4241

I am amazed that Jayco set that up in that way, and it looks like they installed the inverter in the front passthrough?

Oh wow and very cool didn’t even know they were sold over there. So are they built here and shipped there or assembled somewhere over in that region? I would hate to see the shipping cost for that delivery!

Please share their response. I find it interesting that they would wire it in that way. Would love to see the wire schematic for that setup.
