We use the pre-fill water then courtsey flush strategy before final clean up.
The pre-fill of some additional water is key.

it's not the height, it's the clearance!

You are probably right about that and “tall” is what the toilet companies focus on.
What I am referring to here is a much more personal and down-to-earth number, the internal bowl clearance between one's nether regions and the recently raised level of the fluid and solids now in the bowl, Chipotle visits notwithstanding
The major toilet makers DO NOT talk about clearance….

Oh. Mine seems to have enough clearance on the 2015 models.

I have often wondered about this but was "afraid to ask". Thanks for the discussion.

Well not sure if my toilet in our trailer has this issue, as I go to the washroom at the camp ground to do my business! I will however try a dry run in case of a future emergency! Then if there is an issue a double flush system will be the go to plan if the need arises!

The commode in a Rv is there for a purpose. Makes no sense to me to avoid using it except you have a concern about tanks filling before your trip is over.
Dumping tank procedures are sanitary and become 2nd nature to a seasoned camper.

+1, to me it's kind of part of the whole point, kind of like the bed. I know who's been in/on it, and I KNOW it's clean, and if not clean, at least it's my OWN filth... I hate sitting on a public commode (even a "clean" one) almost as much a I hate sleeping in a hotel bed... That's why I bring my own.

I agree. One of my phobias is using a bathhouse. I see some of the nasty rascals that come out of there and I'm glad I have my own toilet and shower. Just my opinion though

I agree also...I don't get the I don't "do the deed" in the RV toilet because I don't want to deal with dumping it. When I am dumping mine everything is running through the hose, I'm not touching it or even looking at it.
As far as the original post.....I also do the prefill with extra water, then a courtesy flush once the kids are in the pool. And another flush after filing the paperwork.

Thanks everyone for their comments. It appears I am not the only one with clearance issues!
Now, just as any other engineer would, I am going to have to make some measurements!
Stay tuned...

I am a larger person as well, but I always do the "deed" flush, ad some water then doo the paperwork. The extra water in the bowl helps to keep the paper away from you so clearance isn't a problem.

I think people that don't poop in their own camper are mental. I have never seen a camp ground toilet, at any campground, that I would want to poop in. Hahahaha. I don't even like using the toilet at work if I don't have too...Its just my opinion so don't go mental on me. Lol

This thread is too funny. Add me to the list of people that do "the Deed" in house. I call it my $23k porta potty on wheels. My wife would sometimes prefer if I "went for a walk" but I kinda like filing my paper work at the home office. Lol

"Dropping the kids off", "Filing the paperwork"... These euphemisms are just hysterical!

One of the key features of our camper was the front bathroom. Just 2 steps out of bed and I'm in. I can live with the "clearance" issues

Toilets are a pet peeve of mine. We replaced our new motor homes toilet right away after purchasing the motorhome. We had a Thetford Mark V, and went with a Thetford Residence. I also put it on a 2 1/2" riser so it is easier to get up from, and more comfortable. Also it has the hand held spray nozzle, which is a must have.

I'm curious, what did you not like about the Mark V?
