Mouse

I am new here and new to TT owning! I am full time and have a 24' Whitehawk MBH. I think I had a mouse get in heater duct area the other night. My cat chased it away (I hope?) but I think it was back last night. Now I have discovered water leaking from the base of wall between bunks and pantry. I have checked outside kitchen, no appearance of leak. Would they chew thru water hose?? I already had two other issues with water but was hobbling thru til I can get to service. But if I have a leak?? It is going to ruin flooring or something if left unattended? I use water sparingly with pump and drain system each use. Any suggestions? HELP

First, shut the water off. Yes mice can eat at anything especially rubber. Not sure about PEX piping.

It may have nibbled a water line from the outside sink area. That appears to be the closest water source to the bunk/pantry area.

I am not connected to city water. Already disconnected that s couple of days ago due to another water issue! Only using my fresh tank...but if I drain the water after each use where is additional water coming from?

Could there still be some pressure in the water lines? try opening each faucet to bleed any pressure off. Can you determine if it's fresh or grey water?

Thanks...thats what I meant when I said "drain the water". After turning off pump I open faucets and bleed lines. I think that is working for now. Seems to have stopped leaking as much. Just a pain to have to do this every time I use water! However, showered earlier and no sign of leak?

Try the beer can trick, put some peanut butter on a beer can laterally, suspend it by putting a piece of coat hanger wire through it (so it will rotate). Place this over a bucket and half fill the bucket with antifreeze. Lay a piece of wood as an entrance across the lip of the bucket stopping g just short of the can. When the mouse jumps from his “walkway to the food - the can will roll and he will drown (pickeled and no smell).
Cheers

Mice hate the smell of dryer sheets (like Bounce). Put them everywhere and change every 6 weeks or so.

I purchased some peppermint oil (Amazon). Haven't had the chance to try it yet, but people on this forum swear by it.

nprothero, I have to disagree with the dryer sheet theory. I think my wife used an entire box in our camper last fall, this spring, there were mouse turds on top of the dryer sheets.

I’ve had mice use dryer sheets for nesting. Maybe we grow them tougher on the East Coast?!

If the mouse is still in the trailer I will put 10 mouse traps all over the place with peanut butter in them and let it sit overnight that usually does the trick when I have one

In case it's not a mouse problem. Since you are new to RV's and you said you had other water issues, are you using a pressure regulator when connecting to city water? If the pressure is too high you may have water leaks show up anywhere in your plumbing system.

We had same mouse problem in hvac vent this summer. Pit out many sticky mouse pads and caught the rascal. Now I keep those pads in RV always. Good luck

Always worked for us . I like to fine tune the trip mechanism if possible. Sometimes traps aren't sensitive enough and the little buggers can clean the peanut butter off without tripping it.
