New Jayco 174BH Owner Sealant Question

I am the proud owner of a new 174BH and my girlfriend and I are planning our second trip with it this weekend.

When we picked it up new, the rear tail light was having issues, so the dealer fixed it. Unfortunately, the tech used white silicone sealant to reattach it. I contacted Jayco and they recommend GeoCel for repairs like this. The silicone bead is not the best so it needs some touch up. Should I remove all of the silicone to replace it with the GeoCel, add GeoCel on top of the silicone, or use some other product?

Thank you!

I would remove the silicone and replace with the recommended sealant.

After you remove it and get the proper sealant consider sealing the hole the wires go into. Then if the sealant goes bad or the light cracks and water gets in it can't get into your walls. I put a tiny dab on each of the screws so the the screw holes won't leak also.

Thank you both.
As soon as the correct sealant is delivered, I'll remove the light housing, the silicone applied by the dealer, and the original GeoCel 2300 and apply it fresh.

Great idea to put the sealant into the hole and on the screws. I will do that!

Silicone is not easy to remove. And typically other caulking won’t adhere to it, even new silicone. You may want to use acetone to fully clean it off before putting on the right stuff. Does a pretty good job.

spray wd40 on silicone, let set for 15 minutes or more. Use plastic razor blades or equivalent so you don't remove paint. Careful touch up to get the last off with kitchen scrubbers (3M). A used one is better because it is not as abrasive, caution, to hard and there goes the paint. Clean up with acetone (hint, Dollartree fingernail polish remover is acetone). Don't leave it on or drip onto decals, or they will be damaged. Let fully dry, buff with dry paper towels to get any lingering dust off. Apply new sealant.
