New to the group and a question

Hello,

Sherry and Darin here ....Darin has had a travel trailer in the past, together we've tent camped...this is my first and our first together travel trailer...super excited to get outdoors and enjoy the camping life.

Question ....we got a brand new 2018 Jayco Whitehawk 25fk...couples coach...before our first trip out we had a leak in the roof near the sunroof, leaked inside cause warping to the ceiling and damage to the counter top....took it back to the dealership...was repairs, we were way more concerned about the water damage then anyone else seemed to be. Now getting ready for our second trip out and found another leak....the large front window is where we are guessing it's coming from, we will be spraying it with water tonight to figure that out....but significant amounts coming in to the front window ledge and spilling onto the counter top.

My question is.....because it's brand new under warranty....and I got the extended warranty...do you take it back to the dealership or attempt to fix it yourself? I'm sure we could caulk the hole we find ourselves but would this void the warranty? Totally disappointed that we've not even had it 6 months and there are leaks....thoughts and thanks!!

Happy camping!!

If you see a obvious place that is causing the leak, I would call the dealer and let them document the problem. I hate leaving a rig at the dealer.

I would likely do anything to allow me to use it. I don't think a dab of caulk would void the warranty but you need to know what type to use.

They consider checking and re-caulking as owner maintenance responsibility but on a brand new rig that has a history of already having one leak, I would get everything documented with the dealer and make sure they and Jayco are aware.

BTW, Welcome to JOF. I'm sure other Whitehawk will let you know of their experience.

Not sure how close you are to your dealer but before I take anything to the dealer I document it with photos and emails. In addition, I would call/email Jayco if you can't get to a dealer and have them tell you what type of caulk to use. We had a caulking problem on our MRB, I fixed it, and when I took to the dealer for warranty for another issue they looked at it and said they would recaulk it again.

Thank you...we've taken pictures and even a video of the large puddle...they can't get us in at the dealership until we are back from our trip...as for contacting Jayco...well we tried and they were shockingly rude to my husband...only via email..I am planning on calling and speaking with someone directly. But you're dealership said they would redo it...it didn't void the warrenty? That would be great if we can do it ourselves for the moment.
