New to the Jayco Family- Refrigerator Question

The wife and I have only been camping for a little over a year and we are trading in our Rockwood Roo 233s for a Jayco Jay Fight SLX8 265 RLS. She loves the camper with the exception of the refrigerator. The one in our Roo is so much larger and better than the 1/2 size unit in the Jayco. Has anyone replaced their fridge before they took delivery?

I'm really interested to see your thoughts/perceptions on your Roo vs. SLX8 as time goes on. Hybrid vs non-hybrid aside. Rockwood generally makes good stuff relative to the RV industry.

Remember, I said 'relative'.

You'll find this forum very active and enthusiastic to help you, unlike most other forums I've been on.

Welcome to the JOF.

Howdy. This might get a bit wordy and probably deserves a separate thread.

We have been all about travel since we were married on the beach in Jamaica 25 years ago and have hardly slowed down... thinking about it... I will make that a separate thread and get back to your question.

In short form, the Roo 233s purchase was full of excitement and the possibilities were 'endless'. We bought it June '21 and were unrealistic in the functionality expectations that we had. Is the Roo a great camper, Absolutely. Does Rockwood make a quality product? Absolutely. Did it fall short in meeting our expectations? Absolutely, but only because our expectations were not well founded.

We are a senior couple with 8 (at the time) small dogs and grand kids to boot. We thought the grandkids would join us on weekends at the campground and in the first season that was true. Then life got in the way and kids have birthday parties and sporting events to attend and camp time was set aside. We spent the entire season this year at 1 campground and the kids visited once.

The campground is 45 min from our home which we find acceptable but the wife and I rarely shared time there together. We would split the pups half & half and one would head to the camper for a few days and every so often we would switch.

The quality of the Rockwood was outstanding and we were probably expecting the same of the Jayco. During our walk through we found a few items that QC should have caught at the plant. The dealer (CW) should have been more eager to rectify but they tossed everything back on Jayco which inially was 'ok' then I read in my paperwork that Jayco authorizes the dealers to make warranty decisions immediately... this was never conveyed to us by CW. They just kicked the can down the road.

The biggest flaw we are dealing with is the Lippert TruFold Sofa has a broken leg and CW tossed back to Jayco and said 'we'll see'. In the meantime, I have contacted Lippert directly and opened a claim with them.

The kitchen cabinet was not assembled properly and there is a sizable gap at the top on one side. The 'repair' was to fill it with caulk.

I liked the fact that the Rockwood came with a complete 190watt Solar system installed rather than the Jayco 'Solar Ready'..

I liked the fact that the Rockwood had a complete bluetooth integration for the slide, awning and lights and the Jayco does not.

My wife absolutely hates the tiny 6 cu' fridge in the Jayco vs the 10cu' MagicChef in the Roo.

Bottom line, I am willing to overlook the differences because the Floorplan will give us what we are missing.

I will update this as we go along for sure.

Swap done. Short changed on our trade but we accepted the numbers. We could have drug this out until the Spring but the impulse got us.

By the way, there are several small (1 foot long) bubbles on the roof and we were told, ' no RVs come out perfect. If it leaks you will just have to bring it back' , which I think is BS.
