Nose come insulation

Winter is soon approaching in the PNW. Family and I do the majority of camping in the winter. The camper handles low teens with few mods done last fall.

This fall I need to insulate and seal the front nose cap of trailer. The 32bhs leaks cold air like a window is open! Im wondering if anyone has attempted this with success. Thanks in advance.

Your signature line says very little of what type of camper?

Do you have a front storage area?

I just updated that I don’t know it it’s showing at this point.
324BHTS eagle HT TT 2017/2018

Yes there is pass through storage behind the propane tanks that stays empty for the most part.
The doors on the pass through I believe are suspect.
Laying in bed there is massive cold draft coming from head board side, and around night stands. Thx

If you can get a hold of a IR temp gun and do all corners and edging. A light test is critical. On a good sunny day get inside and looks for light penetration. then close up the inside of the RV. Make it as dark as possible, with all cargo doors open look for light intrusion.

There is a smoke test the dealers can do to pressurize the RV and check for smoke leaks. Good luck.

Thanks. I don’t have much faith in the dealers from past experience. Light test seems straight forward. I’m looking to upgrade R value, like adding insulation behind head board. There is literally nothing there except the nose cone.

On my 314BHDS, there was a book shelf inset into the front cap, above the bed. It was leaking cold air massively! I pulled the trim around the shelf off (its just nailed in), used spray foam insulation in the gaps around the shelf and reattached the trim with screws. That fixed it.

I also noticed a gap on the sides of the bed frame and bedside tables, down into the pass-through storage bay. I was short on time so I used HVAC foil tape to tape up the seams between the wood frame of the bed/table and the storage bay (I applied the tape to the bottom of the bedframe from inside the storage bay).

I think the first thing you need to do is stop that draft!

Weather stripping on the pass-through doors? Insulate the pass-through doors?

Seal any gaps entering the pass-through storage area?

I don't camp much in freezing temps, so I haven't tried to tackle this problem.

That’s the plan, stop drafts first. Then possibly remove closet/head board and insulate well.

You'll find fiberglass insulation inside the cap from the factory.
