Pilot light only lights inconsistently 2018 Jayflight SLX 17'

Have newer (6 mo.) Jayflight Baja with Dometic hot water heater. Have had consistent problems getting pilot light to light on hot water heater. Stove works fine so I don't think issue is with propane/regulator. Seemed like issue was with red "pilot" button on the gas control valve as when I fiddle wth it long enough I have (so far) been able to get it to light. Air inlet looks clear. Not sure whether to replace gas control unit or not. Once lit stays lit so I don't think its control board. Any advice/experience greatly appreciated-thanks.

There was a similar post recently, and some suggested getting some air out of the gas lines. I've found that getting my fridge to run on propane is pretty much impossible unless I light the three burners on my stovetop first. That might be a place to start.

I'll try that and post result--thanks. Seems strange that stove works fine but perhaps it's only the pilot/gas line that has air in it.

I have a similar issue for about 20min in initial system startup but it eventually lights for good.

Success. Lighting stove and re-attempting to light pilot failed. Next, used coat hanger with small piece of cloth to clean out air intake tube. Didn't appear there was much in there but a few pieces of material came out. Tried re-lighting and worked 3 times in a row so problem solved (at least for now). However, I had same problem with Fridge not working on propane. So tried running stove (both burners) and switched fridge to "auto" setting and propane/fridge fired up immediately. So gas lines apparently need to be cleared regularly at least before fridge will function.

I carry a can of computer air blast. I also use plastic tooth pics to clean out my fridge and water heater jets on a regular basis. I tiny bit of dust or crude and they just won't' work.
