Refrigerate

My fridge is set at the lowest settings and its freezing stuff in the fridge. 2015 jayco does anyone have a idea for me to troubleshoot? Watched a few YouTube video they were very vague but has given a few ideas to start with. Thought I'd join here and see if others have had this issue and how they may of fixed it.
Thanks
Darrin

Welcome to the forum.

I've nothing helpful to offer, but I do have questions...
Is this a new-to-you trailer and the first time you've used the fridge?
What model trailer and fridge do you have?
Does it do the same on propane and electric?
Is the air able to circulate in the fridge or is it packed full?

Which refrigerator do you have? When you say the lowest setting, are you talking #1 or #5? My Norcold I usually have it set on #2 or #3. My Frig, #1 is the coldest set point.

I have found before installing a small refrigerator fan the bottom of our frig would commonly freeze, especially during the hottest months. With the fan, the overall temperature is very consistent.

X2 on adding the fan but I would suggest looking at one that attached to the fins to circulate air over the fins and into the rest of the fridge.

If that fails to help than you could have a bad sensor.

There is a sensor (thermistor) on the fins in the back of the fridge. If this fails then your unit will go into full on cooling mode. That thermistor actually senses the temp of the fins and should, every 48 hours, go into a defrost mode. Once it hits a certain temp, will kick the fridge back on.

If you have a multimeter you can easily check if that is the problem. Should be a certain resistance at set temperatures. Charts are easy to find on Google for thermistors.

thermistor position

I had this issue with mine (small 3 cubic foot model). The thermistor clips on fins in the back. I moved it as low as I could (so it would sense colder air and not try to cool as much), and that moved everything up around 2-3 degrees. Worked for us.
