Replacment fresh water tank drain

Anyone know what I call this or what the part number is to replace this drain valve(is that the right terminology?) under my fresh water tank? There is a slight leak and I took it down and inside is a hose that comes down and connects to this valve, there is a c-clamp on the hose and the portion of the male end that goes into the hose is apparently not working right because even though I have the C-clamp locked down super tight, there is still a slight leak.

Am I making any sense? I thought about just clamping the hose and calling it good, and then if I need to drain the tank, I can unclamp it, but maybe it is better to just buy a new drain valve?

I have seen those drain cocks at Home Depot. They are in the miscellaneous plumbing fittings department. Maks sure you get the connection end. I believe some have a multi-size end to fit different size tubing. Also get a screw down hose clamp. The clamp may be all you need, maybe the existing clamp isn't doing its job. Amazon has them also.

You may want to go for a brass version, the plastic ones deteriorate over time.

I put on a simple shutoff from Menards with a automotive type clamp, cheap, solid brass, replaceable. Just hangs there but not low enough to catch on anything.

Amazon has a bunch of different valves that are similar to the Camco 222223 valve.

Personally, I would replace it with a 1/2" quarter turn ball valve from your favorite DIY store. It will drain about 4 times faster.

On my old camper, I had to replace this part about every three years as it would start to get brittle and eventually the handle would break off. I just replaced it with the same part and called it good. With the new trailer, when the time comes, I may look into one of the less cheap options that others recommend that will hopefully last longer.

Replacment fresh water tank drain

I hit a piece of wood on the highway and it broke mine.
I ordered a replacement through amazon and used a hose clamp. Think I spent under $10 for it
Edit just looked up my order and it was $6.83

I changed our's out so I didn't have to reach so far under to open it up. It also drains much faster with a larger valve.

That was something I wondered about. Mine is low external, and I can see that happening with something flying off of the front wheel. Seems like that location would make it easy to be hit.

Another issue I was wondering about, has anyone had an issue where a kid or someone who wants to cause problems, walks by and opens the valve and drains all your fresh water, and you didn't know about it?

This wouldn't be an issue when hooked up at a campground, but what if you used your coach for boondocking, or take it to a park, tailgating, sightseeing, festivals, etc, where you're just parked in a standard parking lot where people are just wandering around.

Wondering if I need to hide that valve better to eliminate this possible issue of losing all the fresh water?

Pictures or links to the parts to do the job right. I'd like faster draining, but not looking for an all day project.

Want faster draining? Open your Low Point drains and turn on the water pump.

True, but you need to pay attention or you will burn out your pump. I'd like to find a high flow version or solution to the regular tank drains.
