Start Norcold Fridge on Gas?
I have a 2016 Jayco 145RB TT. It has the smaller-than-dorm sized little fridge which runs off of 120VAC or LP Gas. It is a Norcold brand.
For gas, I have never been able to get this to start. It has the manual igniter/striker thing like an old gas grill. It has the selector for Off, Gas, Electric and the electric cold settings, etc. as well as the flame selection... The flame selector pushes in (springs back, doesn't stay in).
What is the proper procedure for starting this on gas? I'm guessing at this because the sequence is not at all in the manual. The walk-through did include this and the guy had trouble but it started. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention -partially because I figured I'd never want to use it on gas and partially because my trailer pickup date was delayed more than a week and I was ready to get out of there.
Anyway, what is the proper procedure for starting this thing on gas?
Thanks!

Are you holding the switch in for 30 to 45 seconds after ignition?
The views expressed may not be mine in five minutes.

I have attached the owner's manual for my Norcold N306R for you. I don't know what model you have, but I thought this may help. See page 5 for gas operation.
Good luck!

Per the above link NEVER hold the gas button in for more than 30 seconds.. That is the knob on the right
Turn it to HI
Push and hold but not for more than 30 seconds
Press the spark igniter button to the left of that knob repeatedly It is ornery takes a few tries.

And...most gas appliances can be problematic if the gas lines themselves aren't up to full pressure and/or have air in the lines. You typically see this after everything has been turned off for a longer periods of time, especially if the tanks have been turned off or changed out. Turn on your stove, and make sure it lights consistently first. Then you are sure you at least have full gas up to that point. You still may have to try the fridge a couple of times, if the gas line run to it is a ways from the stove.

On my old trailer (single bottle), after a bottle change or winter storage, it would take up to 30-40 seconds (seemed like forever, pumping the igniter... waiting for the needle to move) to get the fridge lit.

Even on our 8 CF Norcold in our Camper if I don't light the Stove which is next to the Fridge the Fridge won't light. Have to get all the Air out of the lines and that's how I do it.
Even with that it takes a few sparks to get it to light. Gotta get the Air out of the lines.

Yes, on my camper the stove is "downline" of the fridge. You should purge the line of air and fill it with propane as much as possible. For me, that means to ensure that the stove will light before attempting to light the fridge.

After making sure your stove has gas and it still won't light try manual lighting.
For mine you go outside and remove the grill and with someone holding the pilot/ignition button in light it with a grill lighter. After 30 seconds see if it stays lit.
If this is successful than you may have a bad out of the box igniter. If you still can't get it to light you may have a bad valve, pinched line, plugged orifice, etc.
If it won't light and you can't smell gas odor than that shows gas is not getting to the pilot.
Lots of different causes. It is just a matter of elimination to find what is wrong.
Hope it is still under warranty!
