Summer trip and broken items

Greetings all!

We just recently finished a 2,700 mile trip that took us from the Texas/Mexico border to Colorado and back. We visited Palo Duro Canyon, Colorado City, Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park as well as Santa Fe, NM.

Lots of fun with the kids and wife. Titan pulled our 2017 264BHWS just fine.

This trip we definitely broke the trailer in.. lol.

Hail storm in New Mexico dimpled the heck out of one side of the trailer and the back as well as having a sudden wind gust pretty much destroy the awning. Then my 4 year old son decided to play with the emergency latch on the window next to the bed and snapped it off, causing me to tape it from the outside to keep it from flapping in the air. Lol.

So, being aluminum siding do you think having it reskined would exceede value of the trailer.
And secondly, that emergency latch looks to be riveted on. Do you think it can be drilled out and replaced or a whole new window must be installed?

I’m over three hours from a dealer and wanted to ask yalls opinions before going to see them.

Thanks in advance,

Josh

Our 2015 JayFlight had dimples from a hail storm when ~1 yr old. All 4 sides had some damage. Our insurance paid for the damage and we kept the $$ and didn't have it repaired.

It's only cosmetic damage and we plan to have the trailer for 5 yr or more. When we go to sell/trade it, we figured the hail damage won't matter much.

Ditto. If you are going to keep the TT for a few years, the value will plummet and the dimpled skin won't be an issue if the rest of the unit is solid. People buying a 4-6 year old TT are looking for good function at an affordable price. If they were concerned about every dent or ding they should be willing to pay up for a newer model. I have know several owners of older units who are shocked when they find out they won't be getting anything close to their asking price even though they have taken special care of the RV. These things aren't investments and will lose value pretty much overnight.

The window is an easy fix. The latch required a rivet gun and eleven bucks
We snapped our off on the road and pulled into a repair center . Fixed in ten minutes
We did not have a rivet gun . Otherwise it would have been just the eleven bucks

The assembly is a standard part I recall the repair cost us $25
Like you we didn’t want the window flapping in the wind

Just fix it yourself. Take a panel off and pop the dents out then put it back on.

Paintless dent repair, those repair services use dry ice I think.

I put the money in the bank. After a couple of years the price to trade or resell will not be any different. If you do have it done you can have other problems plus the lost of time available for for use.

Note, If you have another claim they will not repair something that you did not repair with the first claim.
