I don’t know why it wouldn’t. Especially if it’s an inverter type genny.

Normally I just plug into my twin genny setup when boondocking. I have 2 twin EU2000i generators (one a companion model) hooked together.

Never had any problems. Last weekend, I decided to plug my portable PI 30A EMS in and then plug in the trailer power cord. To my surprise, no juice to the trailer. Looked at the EMS, and it was showing the E-2 error code.

Ended up doing the only thing I knew to do. Remove the EMS, and I had power to the trailer.

My next question is where do you buy that special plug the guy in the video had?

You can make your own for $5
Check out the No Shock Zone website:

Thanks.

My next question is whether this is necessary? Since I've owned the two generators I've plugged my shore power plug straight into the genny, and never had any problems.

Without any G-N bonding, the power from a faulty appliance will have nowhere to go other than through your body.

It is part of the safety system that you never know it is there when it is operating properly.

Its only necessary if you have a generator with a floating neutral (Many Inverter types do) AND you use an EMS that looks for that as a potential failure.
