Tire Wear/New Tires Needed

I have a 2017 Whitehawk 23MRB

I inspected my tires after I returned from trip yesterday and was surprised at the wear pattern on both back tires. I weighed at CAT scales prior to trip so balance was not an issue. Tires have about 15K on them, factory originals.

Is there something wrong with the TT as only the rear set of tires wear on the inside.

Any recommendations as to what tire to purchase, and, do TT tires need balancing.

Yes they need balancing as any tire on any type of vehicle. Not doing so results in the tire wearing in unusual patterns.

I suggest calling your local Discount Tire. There are some in neighboring cities and having them help. If not them then Big O or others are experts. Much like what truck to buy, what oil to use and other objective questions, what tire to buy gets you pretty biased information. I like Michelin but is that the best tire for your RV? Who knows.

Thanks, I just changed the bearings a while ago. I will raise the tire to assure that I don't have any play. Thanks for the recommendation on the tires.

My tires wore like that on a long trip. Both the tire shop and a trailer repair shop told me the axle was bent. In my case the tire wear you show was very rapid, maybe 1,000 miles or less.

Look at your axels, they should have slight upward arch.
My thinking, bent axel from too much weight on that axel.
I had outside wear on mine. My alignment was way out and both axels bent. Not from me, I'm new owner on a used unit. $750.00 later(under dealer warranty) hope things are fixed...
Just bought GY endurance tires. Have always used Lt truck tires, so we'll see how these work.

did anyone mention you may have more weight on the rear axel causing the rears to wear out early??

Thanks for all the input. I opted for the Goodyear Endurance but could not find them in stock in any local store. Ordered them on Amazon, it will be interesting to see if they actually ship. Favorite tire store said that factory is just not producing them.

Inspected the axle's and compared with previous photos and no change. I honestly don't know if the tire wear has always been that way or if it happened on this 3000 miles trip. On this trip we did carry 2/3 tank of fresh water instead of 1/3 but the weight difference doesn't add up to past CAT scale weights. It only changed the ratiio by 40 lbs on the front axle of the TV.

One more update. Thanks for the input on the axle. I put a straight edge across the axle and it has lost the arch (my photo angle was off). Don't know how it could have bent as my weight has been balanced. Ouch!

Pull onto the scale and weigh both back axles together, then pull forward and weight only the back axle. If you have a weight problem on the back axle weighting more than you need to figure out why. As mentioned, bent axle, weight distribution, nose high, etc. I would do it before mounting the new tires.

It could also be due to to tire scrub. When you back into your parking place at home, does your tires leave a bit of tread on the street? My rear tires scrub and I wear my rear tires faster than my fronts. I tend to rotate my tires every one to two years. My local Discount Tire store does it for free.
