Tongue jack post pin

My Jay Feather X213 has an electric tongue jack and on my last trip the site was a little low at the front so I needed to extend the post quite a bit. For the first time ever, I was going to remove the pin at the bottom of the post and put out the post extension. However, the pin does not look like it is designed to be removed. I can pull back the safety wire, but the actual pin has a bend at the end that prevents it from being pulled out. It looks like it was made this way rather than damaged at some point.

Is this normal? Before buying this camper, I did a test-tow with another X213. I'm certain the salesperson used the post extension when unhitching. So I was surprised that I couldn't use it on my trailer.

In case this is helpful to anyone, it is NOT normal for the pin on the foot of the jack post to be bent in a way that prevents it from being removed. The dealer cut the pin off and installed a new one. They said the old one got bent somehow, but I can't figure how that would happen, even intentionally.

I don't know about the pin but why not put leveling blocks under the jack pad so you don't have to extend it as much?

I always have a couple blocks of wood under it. It's more stable and I don't have to wait as long to extend and retract. I never found extending the post by moving the foot to be worth it until I was at a site that was very low in the front. It took me two years to notice the bent pin since that was the first time I tried to use it.
