My goodyear Endurance is rated N. Out in mid-West last year I ran 70 on I40 and I70 on good road. I had good fresh tires. At times the road was so bad I had to drop down to 55. 29' with F-250 TT.

I Travel at 55 best gas mileage as well plus the advantage of seeing the country and not the bumper in front of you.

I was going to say something along these lines. I always chuckle when I see the common 63-65 number posted here. (It's what I drive too!)

If we assume divided highway types, I travel 65, generally.

But there are A LOT of people that tow faster. I will occasionally pass an RV/Trailer, but I am much more likely to be passed than I am to pass.

For what it is worth, and as TxLoser implied, there is a large MPG difference for me comparing 63 to 68.

so true ... at 55mph you set the cruise and thats it, its super relaxing to drive at that speed . no need to play with cruise like at 65/70

I try to keep it around 65 mph, butttttttttttt if on the highway or mainly interstate I will go up to 70 mph, traveling cross country you know that you can see miles and miles of highway, then I will bump it up to 70 mph for a little while anyway.

My rig is a 2021 GMC Diesel 2500HD Denali Crew cab pulling a 2020 Jayco Eagle HT 280RSOK. My total weight is 19,400. I rarely exceed 60MPH but i get my chuckles getting passed by others going 75-80. I also average about 12MPG.

We usually run in the low. 60s on the interstate. We have the Anderson wdh so sway is usually minimal. Pulling the 212qb with a 2021 GMC Canyon

Depends on road conditions. Haven't had any issues towing at the speed limit though(depending on hwy it's anywhere from 80km/hr to 110km/hr. Seems to tow even better when travelling with the Brother in Law in the lead and towing his Wolf Pup.

Doing 55 on a 70 mph highway wouldn't be relaxing to me. As cars zoom past you doing 25 mph faster, you are at much higher risk of getting into an accident as people are trying to pass you (on either side). Perhaps on a 4+ lane highway, but then you'd be in the far right lane dealing with merging traffic.

55 is simply too slow on most roads I drive. Once I retire and we d oa cross country trip, I'm going to try to stay off interstates as much as possible and maybe drive slower, but only on roads where it is safe to do so.

I promise you that if you drive 55 mph on roads around where I normally drive (I95 east coast, I75 Florida, I8 10 Virginia-Tennessee), you're going to be causing a lot of traffic, frustration and anger around you. Doing 68 avoids all of that.

To get to a destination with our big car and little trailer we cruise cross-country interstates at posted speed limits or 65-70 mph; have inched up to 75 at times, but back down to 70. We enjoy pre-interstate roads like US 2, 20, 30, and follow the speed limit or less on them. Of course wind, traffic, weather, road conditions are all determining factors and we keep a close eye on tires and hub temps. We could probably hit 90 without a problem, but we leave that to those who pass us.

As a former California semi- tanker driver I spent 30 years + driving where the speed limit for trucks and vehicles towing trailers was, and is, 55mph. Many rural areas the limit for cars was 70 and I never once got rear ended. True, once out of the cities I set the cruise for 60… the governor was set for 65 max.

I seldom go 65, and never above. I run a TPMS to alert me to tire trouble, but I’ve seen what a shredding tire can do to an RV. I was passed once by a Toy Hauler doing about 80….5 miles down the road he was picking pieces of his trailer off the road. The damage to his trailer was incredible!

To each his own.

In those areas only, I try to go faster ~70mph even with towing my toad. I prefer not to do so, but safety (imo) has trade offs of having people unsafely pass vs going to fast to start with. All in all, I think 65 is a fast as I like to go with any trailer outside of what I am describing above. ~CA
What Craig said! When I pull my toad I try to stay at 65mph, I’ll do 67mph if it’s 1-2 lanes and I’m impeding traffic.

Anywhere between 65 and 70. I usually try and stay around 68. I use a IR thermometer as well and check everything whenever we stop.

I've never had a sway issue towing our 26' TT with our Ram 1500 with tow package. We use the Husky Center Line TS WDH and have traveled cross country numerous times. LT tires BTW do make for a even more stable towing experience.

60-65 (in a 65 or greater speed limit) rarely go over 65, might hit 70 rolling down a hill. 2022 Ram 3500 Cummins High Output
