Trailer dolly questions?

On a flat smooth surface, is it reasonable to expect to move a TT under 3500 lbs. with a manual (non motorized) dolly; or at that weight, is motorized the only prudent way to go?

Why not, you can push trucks around. 3500 is 3500 weather a truck, car or trailer.

Except if you have a tandem axle, turning it will ba a PITA.

Move???

By "move" what would you be talking about. Flat surface, garage type move?
Sloped surface, driveway, etc. I have a 3000 lb fishing boat and I wouldn't even consider getting it on a slope without being attached to my truck. Good way to get run-over! I move it in my shed all the time but it can't get away from me there. And its a handful at that.

Thanks for the info, sound like an electric powered dolly would be the safest method. By "move", it would mean moving it into position in the driveway.

Mr G - Sorry - missed that part that it was on flat ground. Would imagine that your TT is single axle so it's doable with a manual dolly especially if you had a little help. How often you might need to move it would make a difference. I'm almost 70 so I would go for the power model.

My brother has one (manual) he moves his PU with. He pulls his PU into his yard (hard packed dirt), for most part it is level. To my knowledge he does this by himself.

Bought model from Harbor Freight for $60 and it works great, larger pneumatic tires are key. Have a Jayco 183rb single axle, takes a little tugging to get it moving but does what I need, move from one side of drive to the other. Use it on boat too, surface is flat, would be a chore on any kind of incline, dangerous at that.

Power Dolly

I made this and combined it with a parkit 360.

With this I can easily move an 8,000 lb boat and a 12,000 5th wheel.
