Your replacement tires should have equal or greater load capacity that the OE tires no matter the size or Load Range.

A LT235/70R15 LR-D has a Load Index of 109 and is rated for only 1,030 @ 65 so definately is not enough tire for your application
Load index of 109 is actually rated at 2271 pounds, which is significantly higher even if you reduce it by 10%. Overall diameter is the same and construction quality (LT) is considered to be better. Leaning towards LT over ST.???

DOT Regulated?

Goodyear Endurance tires are made in the USA. They are fully DOT “regulated.”

Have you ruled out the Goodyear Endurance trailer tires?
2x on the Endurance. Best choice around

I switched from Raineer C grade to Endurance D grade for 3 reasons...

I did not trust the Raineers with their 65 mph rating. I don't ususally tow over 65 but I like the ability and the 'just in case' safety margin.

I did not like to have 'just enough' weight capacity so going up to the D grade gave me a safety margin.

I could not find a pressure rating on my wheels so buying pre-mounted tires solved that problem.

I also had the still ok Raineers on rims and was able to sell them to a guy for a boat trailer for local use.
