Yes you can. In fact, it is encouraged that you go up and check your roof membrane, sealant, etc. on a regular basis.

Do not be surprised by how much it flexes.

You should go up top, and check the sealant at least twice a year.

Yeah, it feels scary because in spots it flexes like crazy but I’ve walked mine often for years

That is really good to know. We won't freak out now when it flexes.

When you do go up be careful that your shoes don't have any stones or other stuff that can pierce the roof. Walk slowly and mind your balance as the roof is curved. You didn't post what year yours is. If it is several years old test each foot fall the first time up to make sure there isn't hidden rot. If you feel better go on hands and knees. Take your time. I use a large step ladder as I don't like the idea of the ladder edges hitting the roof. If that is what you have then put a piece of towel or rug to cushion the ladder where it hits the roof. Coming down is often the most dangerous part, have your spouse hold the ladder to it doesn't slip as you start down. She can also bring up brushes, hose end or whatever you need.

You should do a quick search bar look for caulk, finding leaks, repairs if you find them and questionable items on the roof. Watch out for unfriendly wasps!

Add your make and model RV and tow to your signature saves time and gets better responses to questions.

I've taped some old pool noodles to the ladder where it rests on the trailer. Seems to be working well.

First time I put my extension ladder up against the back wall, I actually put a little tear into the roof membrane. I now wrap a few old shop towels around the ladder. I also put down the stabilizers, to keep things from moving around too much.

I don't know if this should be a different thread by itself, but I have a question. I am getting a 330rsts. I am a big guy (325 lbs). Is it safe for me to walk on the roof of my trailer or any trailer? What is the typical weight limit of a travel trailer?

I would go hands and knees to distribute the weight out. It gets pretty flexible out away from the roof trusses and keeping the weight spread between four points of contact would be the safe bet in my opinion.

I have seen weight limits of 300 published somewhere. But you could beat that by sending your wife?? Just kidding. Get a piece of 3/8 or thicker plywood with no sharp corners or edges and use it in two pieces to spread your weight around. The roof should hold, but it would be a bit expensive to fix compared to having a friend or neighbor help you or pay to have it done.

i like putting a thin piece of smooth plywood down and crawl around on that, to distribute the weight.. i also take off my shoes when i'm up there to avoid rocks in my shoes damaging membrane.. I'm sure I am being over cautious, but watching my roof flex is kinda freaky.

I am currently a little heavier than yourself, but I have been upto 350lbs, I have been onto my roof I crawl on my hands and knees to distribute the load and make me feel safe, I hate heights (it is more a fear of falling than the height itself as once I am up there I can work quite happily). I also try to avoid getting on the roof itself. I can see the roof well enough from my ladders to actually inspect and clean the roof so only will get on there to add more dicore or fix issues etc.

You should be safe, put the stabilizers down to help with movement.

Walk on the roof

I also use the hands and knees technique. I also use a step ladder with a towel on one side in case the ladder leans against the side of the trailer.
Just installed 2 flexible solar panels and it was easy to get up and down.

I asked my dealer about my Alante and he said the roof was good for up to 500 lbs. I've decided that I am getting too old to climb around like I used to do so I let the service guys do it.

I don't fear the fall, it's the sudden stop that really, really, concerns me.

Check the Jayco web site for your model. White Hawk says the the magnum truss roof system can handle 4500 lbs
