The SLX designation was originally used for the smaller, entry level trailers which were 7 feet wide and single axle. The larger, 8 foot wide trailers were called Jay Flights and some floor plans could come in the standard package, or the economy package which excluded a few fancy items to save cost, but same layout. These economy versions were known as the Jay Flight Swifts.

Sometime around 2015, the Swift designation was dropped, and both the single axle, and dual axle economy trailers were branded under the SLX line. Many of the 8 foot wide, dual axle SLX trailers included the letter W in the model name to identify the "wide" (8 foot) floor plan. Ex. 287BHW

As to what SLX actually stands for, I can't say for certain. My best guess would be something along the lines of Standard LuXury.

I agree with the above, more of an entry-level trailer, with fewer options. I noticed the regular Jay Flight version of mine has an extra window in the side of the slide, a larger fridge, medicine cabinet, and a couple of extra lights, backsplash, and a piece of wood in the ceiling right at the cabinets above the sink.

Most of these can be upgraded. I just got my 285 RLS SLX and love it! I've had a couple of modifications done already.

thanks!

Kevin

I've been looking to add a medicine cabinet. Looking for suggestions.

Me too. I've had the water heater upgraded to a gas/electric and a power tongue jack.

What did you do to upgrade the water heater to electric?

I had my dealer install a gas/electric, they put an extra switch inside here. Now, the heater's not working, I think it's the circuit board, seems to be very common at the moment. I started a thread entitled "Atwood water heater issue." Have a look.
