You didn't mention it, so I'll ask: Couldn't you stow the awning in the trailer and install it just before raising the roof?
If you do try your method, it would be good to consider something on the front end of the rolled-up awning so wind from driving wouldn't try to 'inflate' it. I'd also be reluctant to put that much faith in Velcro alone. It's kind of 'belt and suspenders' thing, but I'd also add some additional type of restraint. If the awning unrolled going down the road, it would be ruined VERY quickly.
I have no idea regarding the weight of the awning and the roof lift system.
