Weber Q transport ideas

Hi everyone.

I recently received my first WeberQ. It replaced a "flameKing" grill.

No gas grill has ever ridden inside any of my campers due to the stink ad greasiness.
But I'm starting to wish I didn't have to load the grill into the pickup body every time.

I'm thinking about a sterilite or Rubbermaid boX (tote). And then the grill could easily ride in the camper under the dinette without stinkin up the place.

Any one out there with a similar problem and solution?

Thanks, craig

I think you answered your own question, Craig.

Exactly what we do!

Craig,

Congrats on a great grill!!! We have Q220 ourselves that replaced a Coleman Roadtrip.

At the end of a trip, I use a 1.5" or 2" plastic putty knife (may even be a 1" putty knife, don't recall at the moment!!!! Lol) to scrape the insides as clean as possible. I then use a grill degreaser to finish cleaning the grill and clean the grease pan out or replace it as needed.

I then slide the Q into the front pass through which I have laid down indoor/outdoor carpet in the floor. So far no grease issues.

It does add to the camp break down process, but cleaning the Q can sometimes be done the last evening while getting the fire built up.

I know this doesn't answer your question exactly, but doing this with our Q and Roadtrip has worked just fine. The RT was even stored on my bed in our first trailer, an '87 Yellowstone 425RG. A tarp was laid down beforehand.

I have the Q1200 and scrape the inside with a small putty knife after letting it burn off for 15-2- minutes. I spray it with a degreaser and rinse well with hot water from my outside shower.

I slip the cover I purchased from Lowes over it and tow it in the pass thru. Never had any odors.

I carry mine in my outside kitchen and after I clean it, i will either clean the drip tray out well or toss it when done with a trip.

I have had mine for many years. I bought the wheeled bag from
Weber and keep it in there when not in use. It doesn't stink, but I burn mine off when done, and scrape the inside casting into the drip pan and toss.

Cool! Thanks everyone for the insights. Pass through storage may work, as long as the DW will let me unload some of the camp furniture.

I'm a huge fan of simple green degreaser... use it on the outside kitchen 2-burner, so cleaning was always on my horizons.

Thanks again.

Craig
