After the regular posts about the ease of upgrading the thermostat, I went ahead and ordered one. Since I needed a black one and am in Canada, there weren't too many options, so I am trying this Canadian web site for the first time:

RV Superstore Canada. DIGITAL H/C THERMOSTAT BLK (U)

If I have any problems with them, you folks will be the second to know!

Is another thread on modifying a Hunter thermostat. You have to purchase a wire in a small switch to allow the 2 speed fan to work properly. I was going to do this and even had the thermostat and switch but just bit the bullet and bought the exact match.

If the digital thermostat is an "RV" model, does one still need to modify it to deal with the two fan situation? Thx.

Usually not. If you get the right thermostat for your AC unit (dometic to dometic, coleman to coleman, etc) it will have the fan speed switch and the install will literally be wire for wire. That's why I got the RV specific Coleman T-Stat; it was just too easy NOT to do it that way. Ya, it was a little more expensive, but I wanted it not to look like a hack job, and I'm usually not good at making mods like that NOT look like a hack job! LOL!! YMMV!

That was quick. They called saying that they can't find a black one anywhere. I guess this place isn't much more than an online catalogue!

I just ordered one of these thermostats. Every website I looked at they were out of stock. I got lucky and found one at rv upgrades.com. I'll be installing it today.
