U mentioned that u would want a transporter taking ur unit to factory for repairs. Jayco does not pay for that. I will be spending big bucks to drive there fly back rent a car and than fly back again for pick up and drive back. Two k miles towing and overnighters.

If it's a warranty issue and the local dealer is unable to conduct the repair then Jayco should be paying for the transporter.

I had an issue with another manufacturer and the local dealer couldnt fix so it had to go to the factory, so they paid for the transport from the dealer to the factory. Then I chose to pick it up from the factory myself to make sure I was comfortable with the repairs before I accepted it back. They would have paid for a return transport if I had asked for it.

But I do agree, it was a pain to empty the trailer, but at no time was I ever told to do it by the dealer/factory, I just didnt want to risk anything getting damaged so I bought a bunch of large totes and filled them up and stored them in my garage until the trailer repair was completed.

If I hadnt been so pressed on time I would have used my return trip as a mini vacation.

Yes, you're right jayco doesn't pay to transport your rig to them. I would have to hire someone. I couldn't (and really wouldn't want to) drive up there myself, drive home then do it again to pick it up. But before that happens, If my trailer doesn't get repaired properly at the dealer, I'd look into independent repair shops around Houston.

My dealer claims they can fix the issue so I'm stuck with them for now. If they try to fix it and are unsuccessful, then maybe jayco would pay to transport it. But as it stands now, if I want jayco to repair it at the factory, either I have to tow it to Indiana or pay to have it towed there.

Here is my deal. The slide needs to be removed and the rollers replaced and floor repaired, roof replaced, outriggers fixed and tire rub on slide fixed. If I take it to a dealer it will take forever and than who knows what the heck shoddy repairs I get back. Jayco said I could bring it to them or go local. No hard time deciding there. Be like gee do I want to go to a dealer for surgery or to a Dr.

That's one heck of a repair list!
I'd be of the same mindset too Rock. My dealers service manager let me look at Jayco's directions on fixing my crack issue. Basically remove the pin box and panel under the front cap to access the framing from below. Then to do some additional welding and bracing to the frame. So, I think (maybe foolish) they could do it. If they need to do all the things you need to have done, no way I'd let them even try.

Hi Tom, I took the plunge and finally did your floor mod today, removing the useless carpet strip on the kitchen slide. As full-timers, man it go so dirty rather quickly. Thanks so much for posting this mod as it allowed me to have confidence to proceed. As ours was one of the first 2017 runs, with the same laminate pattern, it shows a little different offset and so we now have an inch faux seam showing. Despite that, the DW really likes the look now, and is also sending her thanks to you. A load of fine Carrabelle Beach FL sand (from Feb) poured out of it during the removal process. What a mess. Only the back end had a bad factory cut and shows slightly. I can't believe how many staples they shoot into the floor. Lucky for me, I kept my Porter Cable air stapler and 3/8" staples on hand in the basement to re-staple like you said. I plan on using some saved craft paint you see on the table (yes, my craft/crap box rides in the basement) to blend the wood floor seen it to relieve eye strain.

Nicely done. If the painting doesn't live up to expectations, try what I did and cut out a scrap piece of flooring from under the stove to patch in the void.
....and yes, they use a boat load of staples.

Thanks, I was glad you posted where the spare strips came from. I had it mind at first, but it will take some careful and precise craftsmenship to accomplish. I had to do something similar around a pocket door mod in my residential master bath toilet closet almost 2 years ago and it came out ok, but the exacto knife cut seam was obvious. I will go that path if the paint doesn't work out.

Yeah, my patch wasn't great...in fact I don't like it at all. The "grain" is going the wrong way, the seam didn't blend in but the wife couldn't notice it and really, no one else did either. You can really only see it if you're on your hands and knees looking up close. I suspect just an ok patch would more than suffice.
