Campgrounds around Wahsington D.C.

Good evening all,

I am planning a trip from western North Carolina to Washington D.C. next year and I wanted to see about campgrounds within easy access to the capital and museums, monuments, etc.?

I have looked at Cherry Hill Park in MD but am wondering if there any campgrounds in VA that offer a good stay with easy access to the DC Metro and surrounding areas?

Thank you for any suggestions.

Pohick Bay Regional Park.

Take transit to go into DC, it's super cheap for an all day pass.

I don’t know about other parks in DC but Cherry Hill was great and we had a great time. First class service.

Can't agree more. Cherry Hill is a bit pricey, of course, due to location, but it's the best one for visiting DC. There is a public bus pickup at the front gate which takes you to the nearby Metro station. Metro takes you down town DC, right near the Smithsonian. From there, almost everything is within walking distance.
