You think its bad now.. there are no doubt roads near you that soon will not be "free"

I wonder... people want free and yet complain about rough roads.
I'm sorry but I have three reasons to whine:

1. Waste
2. Fraud
3. Abuse

I can come up with more reasons but I haven't had my coffee yet...

Another good reason why the state is loosing 1 people every 4.5 minutes. Bet that rate will increase. All my friends have left or are planning on leaving Illinois.

Now I understand why they are jacking up the fuel tax. They're trying to hold their residents hostage by making it too expensive to drive across the state line and escape.

I get hit harder than most. I go thru about 21,000 gallons of diesel a year. I know this started as being about gas, but diesel also gets hit as well along with gasoline many times. It did this time also. The Illinois diesel fuel tax has gone to 44.5 cents a gallon. Add on the 24.3 cents to the Feds. So using these numbers, on 21,000 gallons a year, that equates to $14,448 a year just in fuel tax to me for just one truck. And there are over 1 million commercial vehicles operating in the U.S. And you wonder why prices for stuff you buy is going up.

And even if I avoid buying diesel in a state, like Illinois, I still have to pay fuel tax on the fuel I use in Illinois. One of the wonders of the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA). Same for every other state I don't buy diesel in. Have to file every quarter so each state I operate in can take its pound of flesh from me. Ahh, the joy of being a commercial user.

But always remember.... your government cares for you. Sarcasm intended.

To add insult to injury Illinois democruds are raising license and registration fees by 50% this year.

RV plates are also going up with a purchased trailer title going up to $150 plus plate fees.

Chicago was always famous for gangsters................. still is.

One of our Reps. started a petition to make IL two States. I believe the dividing line between North & South is I-80
I would love to see it!

And for your stated reason, many folks avoid your home state of NY. NY recognizes no one, IIRC, certainly not VA.

Try GasBuddy app. You can specify the town from anywhere or it reverts to near you.

I am always leary of free apps but I can't find any danger in this one. Not a big data hog.

I have no idea where in upstate NY so I randomly called up Nyack and got 2.65 to 2.85 prices

I agree, however we are not long for the "peoples republic"! Heading out west to look at some properties in a couple of states. Utah and Idaho are on the list. Being retired military, Army, I'd like to be near a military base and a VA facility however neither would be a deal breaker. Any suggestions?

Our 2019 212QB Jay Flight has a set of cables that I assume lead to the installed radio. One is a HDMI and the other is a pair of RCA jacks. Plugged both into our TV and activated the aux input mode yet no audio from the TT speakers. The Radio in both AM/FM works fine. Any ideas?

I am not retired military but we bought a small place in Venice, FL a few years ago and have several retired military who see happy with the VA nearby. No base for shopping though.

Tax, climate, people, all good. We are really serious about moving our tax home there and then downsizing. We still summer in Illinois but travel in our RV so much a house here seems almost a waste. And the income tax, plate fees, no concealed carry a person could afford, rising crime, lots of reasons to go.

Yup, moved away from Illinois 29 years ago to Texas and never looked back. Taxes, insurance, political corruption (revolving door of governors to prison), no jobs, etc is why we left. Only thing I miss is Chicago pizza! But, there’s always dry ice and FedEx / UPS!
