Illinois Gasoline Taxes Going Up

For all of you folks traveling to and through Illinois, the state gasoline tax will be increasing $0.19 cents per gallon on July 1. In and around Chicago, the increase will be even more, probably $0.25 per gallon. Happy Motoring.

Twelve states are taking a tax hit. https://itep.org/gas-taxes-rise-in-a...e-in-illinois/

Nothing in NY, since we've already had to send in our first born to the governor!

I was born in Illinois, left when I was 4; spent most of my working life in California, left in 2003. Will never go back to either one. The California I knew and loved will never be like it was years ago.

Our new governor wants to raise the gas tax 45 cents a gallon to fix the roads. It would have to be voted in and all the polls say it will never happen.

Gas or diesel tax?

Just looked up pa fuel tax and a gallon of diesel gets $.741 to state and $.244 to Uncle Sam. Fortunately we do not need to have the diesels emission tested like the cars...yet

I think they jacked them a few years ago here in NYS. The roads are worse than ever. I wonder where all that money goes.
Like the tolls on the NY thruway. When it was built, tolls were only going to be for 10 years.....I think they forgot!

We have no toll roads, and semis are allowed one of the highest weight limits in the country. Our secondary roads and bridges are trashed, most of the major freeways have been replaced from federal funds and are in pretty good shape. This new governor ran on a platform to Fix the Damn Roads, typical political promise, oh but we need another 45 cents a gallon to fix them after she got in office, now all her backers are pissed, glad I didn't vote for her.

If our taxes designated for road and highway repair is being used, it must be in New York City. Haven't been there since 1972. Maybe someone from there could let us know. If it's not going down there, I don't think it's being used correctly.

Yep, got to get the truck filled today - diesel is going up $.19. Would be okay with the tax as long as it is going to fix our roads. Hate when the extra is put into the general fund & the roads are not fixed.

I don't get the whining re gas tax rises. We need to maintain roads and bridges.. The other option is open road tolling..
You think its bad now.. there are no doubt roads near you that soon will not be "free"

I wonder... people want free and yet complain about rough roads.

That was one of those sneaky bills that was worded to make you think this was going to be great. But every one still drives like gas is 1.00 a gallon here. They have 3 cars and they all on the road 7 days a week. Soap box yikes. This is California come on over we will support you with our high taxes.
