15k ac & 50amp worth it?

Some of you have likely seen my thread about my "new, damaged" trailer I'm in line to buy.

Ignoring it's been damaged.... I found another near identical to it, except it has additional options of 15k btu ac & 50amp service. Vs 13.5k btu & 30amp

They pretty much offered a price match except that since it has the two additional options, it'd be an additional $600ish.

So we're talking $23,180, vs $23,800. Out the door on both. It's a Jayflight Slx 287BHSW

Is a 15k and 50 amp service worth the extra $620?

Any drawbacks to having either? I'm having a hard time tracking down the amp usage of the 15k vs 13.5k units used on these. That's what I'd see as the biggest issue maybe, using possibly much more amperage. And available 50 amp service might be nice. Not sure I'd really need it though.

I figure 1/2 of my camping will be dry, so will likely be using my 3500 Powerhorse (same as Predator) Inverter Generator a lot. So the extra amps of the A/C unit might concern me if it's a lot more.

Ignoring that the first trailer is being fixed before I buy it... assuming they're both the same with different options.... are the two extra options worth having?

I'm in the northwest... so our camping season could range from 65-90 degrees, but not likely more than that too often.

It's also about an hour closer to home. But still 2.5 away.

The extra $600 is a bargain for an upgrade to 50a and the unit. However if you don't want or need it the extra expense will be a waste. Your decision.

The unit by itself wold cost you over $600.

A 15k A/C is only 10% more cooling than a 13.5, but it could help out a tiny bit on a hot day. But, for just $600 it would be worth it to me.

I usually go with "It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it".

Without a doubt paying the extra $620 is worth it for the 15k AC and 50 amp hookup.

If you want to consider that the extra $620 adds those options plus gets you a non-damaged new unit and itís a no brainer....

Worth it. Using the WH on elect with AC running, a 30a will often trip a breaker when the microwave is started.

Sounds like a pretty good deal for that upgrade. Worth it in my opinion.

13500 BTU Roof top AC uses about 1,600 watts. 15000 BTU roof top AC uses about 1700 Watts. We have 15 K unit and no issues running it on 30 amp. Not sure what you gain with the 50 amp unless you have 2 AC.

Good Luck]]Good chart of power usage
