Does ANYBODY like this?

In case you haven’t seen it, here’s a supposedly leaked photo of the 2022 Tundra. Granted, it’s the TRD Pro version, so a heaping helping of steroids is standard equipment, like in Ford’s Raptor or the Ram TRX. But gawd, what were they thinking? Let’s hope the rest of the Tundra line doesn’t borrow from this design disaster. Guess I showed my cards. Anybody like it?

Looks very much like the modern GMC and Chevy front ends to me.

I bought my 2007 SR-5 about 3 months after they came out. I traded in my 1997 1500 Silverado for it. I still have it and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off.

When the Tundras first came out they were loaded with extras that were standard equipment. They were all setup for towing and most were coming out with Tow Mirrors as standard equipment. The engine and transmission were bullet proof and have been the same power train up to the 2022 models.

Now almost 100% of the Tundras do not have tow mirrors. They are offered as an extra, but you have to but certain “Packages” to be able to order them. With my Silverado I had to use the clip-on mirrors and I will never do that again.

That 2022 model looks like some designers afterthought. It’s ugly as sin and I would never buy one. Plus, it will have a redesigned powertrain that’s unproven and probably not very well setup for towing. So, I will keep my 14 year old reliable Tundra! 60k more miles and it will pass the 200k mark. Love my truck!

I'm with ya. Can't wait till I get a truck with tow mirrors so I can ditch the clip-ons. (Well, actually, I'll have to wait. Maybe next year.)

I give them credit for not trying to look like everyone else. I'm certain in production this will get toned down.

There are two ways around this. One, go aftermarket like I did on my Frontier:

These are from Trail Ridge. They're OK. Not quite as nice as I was hoping, but for a truck that never had a factory tow-mirror option at all, they're decent enough.

Second, obtain OE towing mirrors and put them on or have them installed. This could either be in the form of having the dealer handle it through parts/service as part of the conditions for the sale, or obtaining them yourself and installing them. For the latter, new from the dealer parts department or used from an auto wrecking yard are generally your two options.
