Jacking up tt
Hello everyone. I need to level my trailer has one side has sunk into the ground making it lower on that side. I dont have access to a truck at the moment. Can I just put chocks all around the opposite wheels and jack up the one side enough to add another peice of wood ? Alot of the videos I watched say keep tongue attatched to truck.
Also jack placement. Under leaf spring plate? Or frame? Ordered a 6 ton bottle jack. Came in last night

Yes you can jack up the one side. Be sure and securely chock the opposite side wheels both front and back. I will only jack under my frame. Others will use the leaf spring plate. I use some cribbing under the jack to get the height that I need and I use a piece of 1/4 inch steel scrap plate between the top of the bottle jack piston and the frame to help distribute some of the weight.

X2 on that and I tack welded a small piece of black pipe to my 1/4 “ flat stock that fits over the piston so it won’t slip off when your trying to position it in place. I’ll send a picture of it in the morning when I go out in the shop as it’s only 5:00 AM here.

I have 1/8 scrap aluminum plate?? Aluminum too soft? Or pressure treated 2x8 scraps? What you think?

Aluminum is likely too soft and the lumber will likely just crush / split from the small piston head area.

I have been meaning to do this. Its just one of those things I don't think about until I need to Jack my camper up which isn't that often, but each time I need to I say "I should have"....

I keep mine up on 3-4x4s screwed to a piece of 1/2” plywood, this way I can use my creeper and scoot around the underside to inspect it from time to time. Sorry for the sideways, my trailer is really resting on all 4s.
the 4x4s are white so they’re easier to see when backing up

Got the flat stock from a local steel fabrication shop in town along with the black iron pipe and had them do a tack weld. Think it cost me $10.00 for the works and the money went into the sunshine fund. Once they get to know you everything goes into the sunshine fund.

I ordered a 4x4 1/4 inch plate off ebay. Worked like a charm. Thanks guys.
Now I want to jack up the tongue so I can slide some 2x8 under the tongue jack as it's starting to sink the little cement pad I put there. Where would be a good place the bottlejack?
Also I read it's better for your tongue jack not to be fully extended. If I add a few 2x8 I'll recover 4inches back from the jack extension/height. Makes sense to me that the less its extended the more sturdy it will be and less stress overall. Is this tru?

I use 4x4s dbl stacked for my bottle jack and I place them between the tires at the back side & in line with the subframe that supports the axles
