Norcold 1210 - ammonia smell

Anyone else ever had this problem?? We have the Norcold 1210 (4 dr - 2 freezer compartments on top over 1 frig on bottom) The right hand freezer has a bad ammonia smell (only in the RH freezer compartment) and only when the unit is turned on - regardless of AC or LP. No smell when the unit is off. High temp unit Svc recall does not apply to our s/n. Frig works flawlessly... nice and cold. The side with the ammonia smell had our ice cream and ice in it and all stayed frozen! We have cleaned the area on the exterior behind the svc door (it was dirty after all the rain and blowing sand in Mexico last week). Had the L1 OP error on frig LED after our trip. Unit level and tried on both AC and LP. Watched youtube video's and did the magnet trick to reset the error code. Error code did not come back. Ammonia smell still there. Called Norcold... said we may have a leak but could not tell us why the other compartments do not stink if it's a leak! Suggested we take it to the dealer. Can't get in to dealer until early May... snowbird season in AZ! Suggestions??

Usually, when there is an ammonia leak, the unit is toast. This happend to the refer in an older trailer we owned. Is it possible, due tothe size of your Norcold, it has more than one "system"?

You may be able to see the leak in the back of the unit. Usually a yellow stain. Sorry I don't have any better advice other than contact a mobile RV Tech to pay you a visit.
