One other tip that help me when first learning to back in. Place your hand on the botom of the steering wheel. The direction your hand moves will now be the dirention your trailer moves!

DW = Dear Wife = Dariling Wife
There is a page somewhere on the site that has a list of acronyums. Of course when I go to look for it I could not find it. But it is here some where.

A while back, a friend sent me this video on how to properly adjust your car mirrors. I don't do this in my truck since it has great mirrors that allow me to see blind spots, etc. but in our regular vehicle, this works really great.

1x on Bowtie's "go slow" comment.
1x on Roy's "plan your exit BEFORE entering"
Swing wider than normal on right turns.
I find most folks will leave you extra room and be a little more polite when you are towing (except when returning to Houston on a Sunday afternoon)

Well I have to give you guys credit for first TT ever and to pull a trailer that is at least 35' bumper to tongue thats a lot of trailer. But I agree with all that has been said take your time you dont need to go 65 or 70 at least till you have a some mile's under your belt use your mirrors and dont forget what is behind you. My brother did forget he had a trailer behind one time but he only forgot once.

Don't feel like you're rowing that boat alone. I remember my first 14ft quad trailer, and the sheer terror I felt trailering my atv's all the way to NM. After about 10 trips or so, you wonder why you were so paranoid...LOL

You'll be fine! I love a challenge and couldn't wait to drive our 32bhds beast! I think the prior postings give great advice. I, fortunately, have a very gifted DH who can drive anything, that was able to teach me to drive our TT safely. My number one advice: Don't lose your cool & panic. I told my hubby that I want a bumper sticker that says, "I make wide right turns. Get off my a**!!" and "Student Driver." That would keep people away from you! I'm still learning to back up. I did much better this recent trip, but finally relinquished the controls over to my 14 yr old son for final placement. Talk about "ouch" to my ego!

A used 2008 F250 diesel. Only 49,000 miles. Its a Phoenix truck with no rust.
Looking forward to towing with it . . .

If your truck came from AZ
You might do well to have a transmission service. The heat here can be brutal on equipment. Transmissoions seem to take the brunt of it. Its gogin to be 110F today for example and we are weeks away form the realy hot part of summer.

If this is your first experience towing with a Diesel, I think you're going to like it!

Very good advice from everyone, I would also say that remember that you don't have to be in a hurry and a long trailer is easier to back up than a small trailer as it reacts slower to the movement of the steering wheel. If while backing up you have to much trailer in your left mirrior, then turn your wheel to the left, to much in the right mirror, turn wheel to right. And remember you can back up as slow as you want. People will wait.

I have the exact same trailer and only picked it up about a month ago… Someone told me when I first got mine to just stay calm, relax and remember that everyone else in the campground had to start somewhere as well.
This biggest thing for me and my DW about backing into the camping spot’s is we use radio’s, I can honestly say it’s saved lots of little argument’s and stress. When I want to know something I can just ask and find out the answer right away which saves on jumping out of the truck and having the same conversation over and over again.
When towing on the road or highway I just take my time and everyone else can just pass… She’s too big and heavy for me to stress about the traffic. I also pack extra fuel for my TV while on long trip’s… Haven’t used it yet but I’m sure those extra jerry cans of fuel will come in handy somewhere.
Oh and the last thing which I told myself… Remember to enjoy the trailer and don’t be scared of it because it sure did cost enough to buy it!

CruizinKim - there are several bumper sticker manufacturers on the internet that will print one or a hundred, at about $3 apiece for one or two, and less as you increase the quantity. You can type in your own message, and select colors, borders, etc. I had a couple done a while back, and was very satisfied.
