Protecting Trailer Exterior - Recommendations?

We've been debating whether or not to get a cover for our trailer while it's stored outside for the winter. There are certainly a lot of conflicting opinions. At this point I'm leaning towards not using a cover. I'm looking for opinions on wax and roof protection products. We have a Jay Feather with fiberglass exterior. Are there specific wax products designed for these or can you just use the same thing you'd put on your car? Appreciate any insight....

I use meguiars cleaner wax. Goes on and off very easily. I did a coat in July and plan on doing one right before the Jay goes to sleep for the long winter. Also plan on sealing the roof with aerospace 303. If i can do this twice a year with a couple of in between washes I'll be happy.

I used turtle wax last spring.
Front cap faded pretty bad.
Just finished (like 30 minutes ago) using nu-finish on the front, left and rear.
Front cap looks like new again.
I used nu-finish on my last TT and it's exterior looked great when I sold it.

Current TT is Jayflight fiberglass exterior.

Fade or is it oxidized? If it's oxidized are you still under 2 year warranty?
You should do all of the following
Buy a good quality RV cover and wheel covers.
Wash the RV Monthly when not covered
Wax twice a year but don't do decals.
Use dicor on any cracks on roof calking

If you wax the decals wax gets on the edges and it's impossible to get it off before you know it you can see white edges around all your decals.

Maybe that's why I haven't noticed it. My trailer is white apart from the decals

Don't cover unless you can 1) keep the cover from touching ANY of the trailer, even in wind and 2) keep it ventilated.

Oh hell. That seems impossible unless you get an undercover type of thing. I've never heard a cover is not supposed to touch the trailer. Why should a cover not touch the trailer? How is that even possible? And wouldn't anything you put on the trailer before the cover technically be touching it and then cause it's own set of problems, resulting in the never ending need for further protection until I end up with a cacoon of packing blankets covers and bungies?

I use an elements cover from CW. No problems and when I uncover my trailer in the spring, it looks as good as when I covered it.
I cut X's in tennis balls and put them over the downspouts.
Going on my 3rd year with this cover.

I use a Classics Accessories cover for my Eagle. I've now got almost 3 years out of it and it does a great job (and I live in Kansas where its is always windy). It has never left a mark on the finish and it is very well ventilated. Most of the modern cover materials have pretty well eliminated the abrasion issue that was a problem with older heaver fabrics.

Maxxgard

We just completed our PDI for our new 5ver and purchased the Maxxgard exterior protection. Five year warranty.

I cover mine as well and the tennis ball thing that RA mentions above works perfectly. BTW, my cover definitely touches my trailer but I've seen no ill effects...

We keep our Jay Feather washed and saturated with 303 Aerospace Protectant. We have the standard cruddy CW cover. We used to have a nice CalMark for our previous unit, but they are really costly. We hope to build an RV port to house our TT and TV very soon!
