The microwave vent... are you referring to the vent opening on the outside wall of that slide pulling from the fans below the microwave?
I don't think the microwave vents to the outside, does it? Doesn't it just recirculate back into the kitchen?

You're right!! Neither the microwave or convection oven vent to the outside........just the exhaust fan.

And I think that vent on the outside wall has to be manually opened.

Yes it does. There are two tabs that lock it shut when you travel..........I have a hard time remembering to lock it shut before starting down the road And vice versa

Our GE (SENECA) and the SAMSUNG (PINNACLE) convection did vent to the outside when it was running so I never locked the vent cover. Not sure what brand they are using now, but you may want to check again when it is running since many other brands do too.

The outside vent cover was not installed on my unit. The exhaust fan is built into the microwave. Without the outside vent, you only circulate cooking heat and odor through the FW. I have not seen another 2019 without the outside vent cover. I will be adding it myself next week.
