Congratulations! You will enjoy it. Kitty and I retired 18 months ago. Every night when I get in bed, I ask Kitty

"Guess what I'm going to do tomorrow?" To which she always replies.

"No what?"

I then say "NOTHING"

I getting good at it.

Congrats - welcome to the club. We’re on our way north after wintering in South Texas. I now understand why there are so many endorsements of the gypsy lifestyle

Retired 13 years ago and having a tough time accepting that it has gone by so quickly. Still active but a whole lot slower and now taking meds for an AF heart condition. The good news is that I just turned 70 and my advice is retire as soon as you can. Those years at the end of life come and go quickly.

Hoping that the OP has their ducks in a row and can enjoy retirement. Main advice is to expect bumps in the road and deal with them. #2 is do it your way, not how CNN says its supposed to happen.

Love the 3,3,3 rule. I think we will use that too in a couple years

Congrats on your retirement. Retirement is wonderful and also agree with those who mentioned it goes FAST. Imagine how fast your vacations zipped by while you worked...well that's what happens everyday in retirement!! Thanks for the 3-3-3 rule...I like that a lot.

We pretty much follow the same 3-3-3 plan but add a couple other things. We try to getclose to our ultimate destination with one or 2 overnites before we activate the 3 day stay rule. Don't forget the return to home segment. We try to work our way back and that's where the 3 day rule comes into play. Return home rested and happy rather than coming off a 2 day 1000 mile marathon.

Do it your way, there aren't any real Rules in Retirement.

Congrats. You've begun the best job you will ever have.

I retired Aug 31, 2013. Did football tailgating that fall, and then left on a 7900 mile odyssey to CA and return to Virginia in Feb 2014. Filled in a lot of states on our map, and saw a lot of this wonderful country.

Enjoy your retirement and all your forthcoming trips.

We follow just about the same routine you described. Every once in a while that 3-day stay is extended if we absolutely love where we are! Been at retirement for almost five years now and still lovin' it.

I retired in '11. I do nothing all day during the week then rest up on the weekend!

Enjoy, and be sure to stay healthy.

Retirement isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be, it’s way more. It will be a year for me April 5th. We just left Gulf State Park Sunday. Fantastic if you enjoy biking, hiking, the beach, and restaurants. Before that we were in Key West 2 months. Great time. Congrats on your adventure and safe travels.

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.
