1969 Dodge Polara - Old police car that I bought for $600.00 in 1977.

"It's got a Cop Motor, Cop Tires, Cop Suspension, Cop Shocks......"

I wrapped it around a tree in 1981. I was lucky to walk away from that one.

1961 Corvair...(bought it in 1966)

Anytime it snowed I passed all the stuck people on the hills.. Even towed a NIMROD to WA. DC with two college friends in 1967.

A 1950's era English Ford for $200.00 in 1961. Today it would be called a SUV. With the back seat folded down there was plenty of room for my surfboard.

A 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. It was a garage queen owned by a grandma who used it for church and groceries when I got in in 1996 with like 50,000 miles on it. Then I bought a 1998 Dodge Dakota in 2002, then a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer that I bought in 2008, and now my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 that I bought in 2017.

There were several others early in my driving career. But the first car that I purchased was a 1987 Corvette. The first truck was a '79 Chevy C10 that my father gave to me when I turned 16. I still have both of them.

1985 Honda Prelude in 91. Great car at the time. Worked my tail off at a grocery store to help make it happen. Got me through the first half of college.

A bright red 1966 Mustang. Wish I’d known it was destined to become a classic.

37 Chevy coupe purchased for $50 at age 14. Didn't care about driving legally.

On to a 55 Plymouth whose motor I had to rebuild twice. Great fun.

1979 Chevy Luv truck. Piece of junk but it was my grandfather's truck, and as a 16 year old, I wanted it. We were close.

72' Dodge Charger SE. I used to have dreams about that car even years after it left my possession.

Turned 18 in the summer of 90, got my license a month before and my car was a real woman catcher ( keeping it G rated here), 85 Chevy Chevette w/4sp manual. Drove many a car before that out hunting the backroads with dad and such. Only other car that was more of a dog than mine was when the gas prices SOARED in the mid 80's and dad bought a brand new 85 Chevette with a non turbo, non intercooled I4 diesel. That was essentially the first "Duramax". It was my job to fuel it with the No2 fuel oil we had filled into an oil tank along side the garage. That car was an absolute SLUG!

What was your first car?

My first vehicle was a 1963 Willys CJ5. I loved that thing. It had a 134 Cubic inch 4 cylinder engine with a one barrel carb and an oil bath air filter. Being a soft top I couldn’t lock it up, but I had a storage compartment that most people didn’t know was there. I wish that I still had that. I’ll always have found memories of it.
