Yet another hurricane to deal with

Hurricane Sandy bears down on the East coast. Usually when we get through September we are pretty much in the clear here but some models have the storm hitting very close to the DelMarVa peninsula, some suggest New Jersey/New York area. Either way its going to be a rough few days for those of us in the Mid Atlantic, North East and even possibly the Canadian Maritimes. Time to batten down the hatches, good luck to all in the path of the storm.

Take care. We have been fortunate here again this year. I sure hope this is the last one of the season.

We was all clear here in the northern neck of Virginia but now they are showing us touching the wind forecast part of the storm chart. Waiting to see the next forecast path to see if it moves more over us... I think tomorrow i will repark my POPUP trailer so it will will head into the wind better... Hopefully it wont be much more then 50MPH wind here. I got real tall trees around my back yard. Got 5-gallons of gasoline for the 2KW generator and three deep cycle batteries I can use on the popup so after the storm goes thru can survive at least a week again running extension cords to the house off the POPUP inverter/batteries and recharging every morning with the 2KW generator. Won't miss a beat with HDTV and lights and fridge will also stay cold running a couple of hours aday.

Roy, I also have two genny`s and having well water I can run my waterpump off the genny if necessary. Between the boats and trailer I`ve got several batteries as well I could use in the trailer. I also have large mature trees to be concerned about. Several years ago a neighbors gum tree fell over into a tree in my yard bringing it down as well during a tropical storm. What a mess that was. Hopefully things will not be too bad.

I hope everyone makes it through the forecast storm with no problems. We were planning on going South from Ont. to the Carolinas next week. It looks like we'll stay put for a bit to avoid the high winds heavy rain and chances of heavy snow in the mountains. Does not sound like good towing weather.

Be safe

Peter
