Another Seiki TV issue - a big issue for me
Have been hooked up to a campground provided cable service but my Seiki 4K uhd model se39he02 along with our other bedroom and outside tv's will not scan for cable digital signals.
A call to Seiki customer support confirms that Seiki removed the QAM tuners from their tv's in 2012 when the FCC allowed cable providers to encrypt their digital signals.
Most campground cable tv providers apparently use clear QAM digital signals, non encrypted.
At your home, most cable providers are now encrypting their digital service which requires you to use their cable box. TWC still offers some basic standard definition channels but I assume this will go away as they are becoming Spectrum.
Many of the typical tv manufacturers, Visio, Samsung, LG, etc. still offer a clear QAM digital tuner in their tv, Seiki doesn't.
I have contacted Jayco customer service requesting replacement of my 3 tv's with a brand that is digital ready. For a coach with an msrp of $150k any reasonable person would expect a tv of sufficient quality to receive clear digital tv signals.
If you have a Seiki tv I would appreciate your feedback.

I wondered why cable tv was so bad. It is better with antenna.

Nick's brought up s good point. Any other obscure TV's that RV's tend to use not working with cable as well.
Jayco used to use another Asian tv ( Furrion) that was built for the shocks and bumps of rv travel that cost twice as much as a Visio.

Maybe that's why they could never fix my cable tv problem!

RV Manufacturers continue to provide the crappiest televisions in RVs, whether they be Jensen, Furrion or Seki. And, if you check the retail prices of these "stupid" televisions, they have been markedly higher than a comparable sized "smart" TV with a brand name like Samsung, LG, etc.
I don't know if it is because the manufacturers get a huge discount from these brands but it would be nice to have an option for a better set. Profit margin may be another reason.

I'd put whatever I wanted in the rig. I have one that came with ours and one Vizio. Any tv will work and survive the ride, plus you obviously get better quality and pricing going with Samsung etc. I think the "RV TV" thing is a marketing gig really. Have had name brands in previous rigs and never an issue.
I've ordered rigs in the past without the tvs just for this reason.

My 2011 came with an 30 inch "RCA"; in quotes because, of course, RCA hasn't made a TV in a long time.
The picture on the "RCA" was the worst I've ever seen on modern LCD TV; I mean, truly awful.

Good news to report
Jayco has agreed to replace all three of the Seiki tv's in our 35S Motorhome. They are making arrangements with Camping World in Myrtle Beach to install the replacements next week.
Just be aware that when purchasing a new tv make sure it is fully digital ready. It should have a clear qam (quadature amplitude modulation) tuner for cable providers that still supply unencrypted services. Lack of a QAM tuner will not affect over the air reception. Those using satellite providers are not affected since they provide a separate tuner ahead of the tv.
I am happy that Jayco has stepped up the the plate and accepted ownership of this issue. I'll report back after the installation.

Ummm, maybe?
I'll be in Atlanta on Monday morning to get my stabilizer installed then we drive over to Myrtle in the afternoon. Haven't checked the route to see how it takes me.

HOLY SMOKES!!!!!!
That is amazing.
I'd have guessed they'd have told you to pound sand. I mean, I've been really happy w/ Jayco's customer service, but I think this really speaks volumes.
Congratulations!

I agree, blew me away too. Yes, it does speak volumes for Jayco. So far they have addressed all my concerns with no pushback.

Another Seiki TV issue - a big issue for me
My Precept 31UL has Seiki TVs. The larger one up front developed a red line vertically through the middle. The dealer has turned it in as a warranty item. They have told me it will be replaced, also it would not play audio through the overhead speakers, something the dealer couldn't get to work either. So they assure me it will be corrected when the new TV arrives. The other two TVs work fine, and over the air signals are fantastic! I've only connected to one cable system at a park, and the signal was poor.

At least the Furrion has a QAM tuner.
I have started carrying a coax booster as the signal in most parks that provide cable is often low. (Too many splits with no amplification) Works wonders.

Just a side note that most probably already know...When using cable TV, make sure the booster for your antenna is turned off. If it is on, it will ruin your cable signal.

Jayco feeds audio from the Seiki headphone jack to the aux2/zone 2 input on the Jensen dash unit. I believe they also have a composite video cable (yellow plug) that feeds Jensen DVD video to the Seiki. DVD audio should play through the overhead speakers though I have not tried this combination.
I'm not an audiophile but find it really weird that Jayco designed the video switcher system to use Ethernet cable instead of hdmi cable. There must be some logical reason but for the life of me I can't think of a good reason.

I've looked at the back of my living area TV and its got two RCA plugs for audio out running somewhere, and no video input or audio input being used. So my Jensen DVD from the dash doesn't feed to it, it plays a DVD on the dash screen which is odd. There is a Seiki DVD in a cabinet with a matrix that feeds all TVs, the matrix can accept a couple of more HDMI sources. I can't figure out where the audio from the TV is feeding. The dealer says they will fix it when the new replacement TV comes in.
