heater Question

Hi All,

My wife and I own a 2018 P31 Class A Jayco.
On a r4cent trip, temps at night got down to 22 degrees and we used the heater. When we got up in the morning we bumped the heater up a little more to take the chill out of the coach. As I usually do, I went into the bathroom in the morning after coffee to shave and brush my teeth. When I pulled the draw in the bathroom out to grab my razor, I noticed the draw and all of it's contents was hot, I mean really hot. There is a heater vent under the kitchen sink that must have a duct in the bottom of that cabinet. What the heck...…….Is the Duct damaged or not completely connected? has anyone else experienced this issue? What do you think is the cause or issue?

Not a class A, but I have some cheap thin aluminum foil ducts in my TT. I had a small tear in the 2" duct, under my bathroom sink. That area was really warm, until I patched it.

In reality it could be a tear or a duct that is not fully attached. If I was a betting man, I would say not fully attached. That maybe easy to tell by feeling your duct registers.

Lots of posts recently on ducts not being attached to the ac itself or the vents around the RV. Try a search above in the gold bar to get lots of information.

The best duct tape for this is not the old fashioned cloth tape but aluminum foil tape. Works for duct repairs and sealing the ends of ducts to the vent openings.

I also use it to seal up little holes in my basement metal ducts at home. Directs all the air to where it is supposed to go and will never get old and come apart. Part of my travel tool box. You can also use it to temporarily patch just about any hole or leak.
