Malfunctioning Slideout questions

Hi all,

We have a 2014 Precept 31 UL. Last Saturday while breaking down camp, our dinette slide failed to retract. After an hour or so, I was able to locate and release the motor brake and then push the slide back in. After returning home, I tried the slide and it worked just fine. So now I’m trying to figure out why it failed and have come up with a few questions that I hope someone on this forum can answer. The manufacture, Power Gear, talks about a motor controller, does anyone know where these are located? Also, is there a weight limit for sitting in the dinette? We were camping at Lake Mohave where the temperature was 100 + degrees, is there any type of thermal circuit breaker that could be involved?

Thanks,

Mark

Welcome to JOF, we are glad you joined us.

The motor controller boards are typically mounted to the underside of basement storage cabinets.
There is not a strict weight limit for the slideout but it should not have any excess weight present when extending or retracting.
There is no thermal overload but there is a current overload on the aforementioned controller board--if there is any binding including excess weight it could cause it to trip.

Thanks 2008 Seneca,
I have removed the access panels in the basement storage. So far I have only found the motor and brake system. I'll keep looking.

Thanks again!

I was looking for my motor controllers in case of need, and found them under the main bed in the covered electrical compartment, they are also Power Gear.

Thanks JesseS and Grumpy! That make sense locating them close to the circuit breakers. I've opened the slide several times since we've been home and it's worked every time. It's a mystery! On the positive side, I now know how to close it if needed.

Thanks for your response
