Picking back up on the AC mod, I did pull out each ceiling vent and tape up the duct to keep the air from leaking into the attic. I also taped up each end vent to help the air “turn the corner”. The time spent doing this is well worth it, even if you don’t install the RV Airflow device. Jay. Click image for larger version

Next mod: auxiliary power. The combination of a 30 amp (3600 watt) camper, and electric space heaters, the microwave, DWs coffee pot and her 1875 watt blow dryer often calls for “creative electrical management”. To help with this problem, I installed an extra outlet, then ran its own cord out to the “mouse hole”. This lets me plug into a different outlet on the pedestal that doesn’t go through the trailer electrical system, giving me an additional 2400 watts, bringing my total available power to 6,000 watts. After rewiring a friends brakes, I used the leftover part of a Harbor Freight 12 gauge extension cord. Both plugs will fit in the hole and you can close the cover. JayClick image for larger version

Next mods. Ran another #6 positive charge wire from the power panel to the circuit breaker on the tongue along the same route as the original wire. Now both are together in a properly routed wire loom, unlike what Jayco did with the first charge wire. While I had the power panel pulled out, I ran a #10 gauge wire to a wall mounted plug for our small 400 watt MSW inverter. Now the inverter can be easily plugged in and put on the floor to power a crockpot while traveling down the road. This also lets us plug into the “solar on the side” plug to power LED Halloween or Christmas lights without being plugged into shore power or running the generator. Jay

Next simple mod: After noticing that a lot of places we go I have to add boards to the back stabilizer jacks, I just attached some permanently to all 4 of them. The rear are 2x4 and the front are 3/4 plywood, all pressure treated. Jay

Sorry I have been gone for a while. Now I am back with the next mod. I bought one of those battery powered inside the fridge fans and it really helped. Batteries last pretty long too. I made a bracket to hold it near, but not touching the fins. Click image for larger version

Today I took on the furnace. Been putting it off, but with cooler weather on its way I decided to do something. Following Rustic Eagles lead, the first thing I did was put a hole in the bedroom wall and add a vent. Click image for larger version

Then I noticed something. ALL of the return air goes into the center hole of the squirrel cage. That means that putting extra vents on either the side or the top of the box won’t help much (IMHO) because I just opened up the air feed hole directly to air from the new bedroom vent. The extra vents on the box, however, may keep the box cooler, I don’t know. Then I cut and covered an opening to make it easy to access the reset switch. I did not pull the sofa or the wood box to do this. Just tested it. Works great, it will hold a tissue to the new vent, but I wasn’t having any trouble to begin with. Thanks again Rustic Eagle.
