Led light issue

I bought an led light strip with controller and wanted to install under my awning on 2010 304bhk. I removed the porch light bulb from the socket and wired the power for the controller to the wires so I could use the porch light as the housing. However whenever the camper is running on shore power the less just flash really fast. When on battery they seem to work sometimes, and if I use the power brick that came with them and 110 they work fine.

When I check power at the porch light there is 13.x volts when on shore power. When on battery it's starts at 12.6 like I would expect.

Is this just a bad driver or has anyone had any issues like this before? Admittedly the LEDs are a cheap brand but the driver appears to be the same one as some that are used by superbrightleds which I have seen people on the forums say they use.

1) Are you sure you got the polarity right? Black is + white-
2) your converter may have a (be the) problem

I have been using mine (from Amazon) for 8 years now with no problems

Sean

Yeah the polarity is definitely right. It works just fine when the power is lower.

When you say converter you mean in the camper or the led box?

I believe the converter won't regulate voltage but maybe I am wrong

Definitely sounds like a bad driver. I experienced something similar when I mistakenly installed a non-L.E.D. dimmer on a bank of lights and fried the driver. Reminded me of the old shorting, flashing neon "diner open"lights .

That's what I am thinking. Not sure I can return. It. I also considered grabbing a buck boost regulator to flatten out the 12v power for that circuit.

I want able to return the controller. But with new controller in hand the LEDs work perfectly. I also bought the buck boost just in case but didn't need to use it.
