Sink cover

Made this sink cover per my wife's request for more counter top space in the 2021 267BHS. Just ordered up a industrial oversized cutting board and cut it to fit. Plus the 1" hole to get it out again.

That look very nice! How thick is the cutting board that you used? Jay.

Looks a lot better than what came in ours….

Thanks! It's 1/2" thick.

My wife was asking me to do the same thing. I was concerned about damaging the caulk/seal around the sink area. Any thoughts on that? I may just have to do this anyways and keep an eye on it. Counter space is at a premium for sure.

Good concern, I haven't had an issue yet. I did learn you need to leave about 1/4" gap total length and width for expansion or good luck getting it out. The cutting board I got can easily chamfered with a rasp to clear the caulk. I may just do that myself.

I was thinking to use a small round over bit in my router to take the edge off. We have 2 large cutting boards that have a ditch per say in them to stop fluids running also. I had considered doing that too. Just a thought.

Even better! If I could find a place for all the stuff on my router table I just might do that myself.
